Birding the Adirondacks:
Teddy Roosevelt Bird Walk

Adirondack Birding Center Director Brian McAllister led a bird walk on the Heron Marsh Trail and the Silviculture Trail on 28 June 2012. The walk was part of the "TR" Birding Series. The walk began at 9:00 AM, when we met in the VIC building at the Paul Smith's College VIC. We saw or heard a total of 33 birds. Highlights of the walk included a Great Blue Heron overflying Heron Marsh, some excellent views of a Magnolia Warbler feeding young, and a female Common Yellowthroat on nest by the overlook on the Heron Marsh Trail. We also saw a large snapping turtle on Shingle Mill Falls.

From the floating bridge on the Silviculture Trail and the Heron Marsh Trail from the floating bridge on around the loop by Shingle Mill Falls, we saw or heard the following birds:
We also observed a number of wildflowers in bloom or in bud:
