Adirondack Wildflowers: Dewdrop (also called False Violet) blooming along the Heron Marsh Trail (20 August 2012); Spotted Touch-me-not blooming on the Black Pond Trail (16 August 2012); and Indian Pipe blooming on the Woods and Waters Trail (23 August 2013) Adirondack Wildflowers: Dewdrop on the Heron Marsh Trail, Touch-me-Not on the Black Pond Trail, and Indian Pipe on the Woods & Waters Trail

Come to the VIC from 9:00 AM to noon to learn what's blooming around the VIC in the waning weeks of August.  We'll look at Goldenrod, Asters, and other flowers in the composite family. Wildflowers blooming along the VIC trails in late summer include:

Spotted Touch-Me-Not (Impatiens capensis) Whorled Wood Aster (Oclemena acuminata)
Dewdrop (Dalibarda repens) Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota)
Indian Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) Joe Pye Weed (Eupatorium maculatum)
Flat-topped White Aster ( Doellingeria umbellata) Pearly Everlasting (Anaphalis margaritacea)
Goldenrod (Solidago) Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

Explore the Trails

The VIC trails are free and open to the public, from dawn to dusk, spring through fall. In winter, the trails are open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers for a fee. Day or season passes may be purchased.
