Music at the VIC

The VIC also hosts local and regional musicians, with both free and fee-based concerts and musical workshops throughout the year. Open mic nights for local artists are also offered. Venues include the VIC Great Room, the auditorium, the Whispering Pines Amphitheater, and the outdoor stage at the edge of Monarch Meadow.

Visual Arts at the VIC

The VIC Great Room Art Gallery provides space for a monthly art exhibit, featuring local and regional artists and photographers. In July and August, the VIC hosts a juried art show -- "Life on the Lakes." At the beginning of the year, the VIC Great Room is the site of a Winter Wonders Art Show and Sale. The VIC is also a featured location for the Adirondack Plein Air Festival in August. The VIC also hosts art workshops, such as the Plein Air Painting Workshop by John MacDonald and the Art of Expressive Drawing Workshop by Frances Gaffney.

The Paul Smiths VIC offers a wide variety of programs throughout the year to educate and inform Adirondack Park residents and visitors about the natural wonders of the Adirondack Mountains. You can help support these programs by joining the Friends of the VIC. More information on Friends of the VIC memberships

Explore the Trails

The VIC trails are free and open to the public, from dawn to dusk, spring through fall. In winter, the trails are open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers for a fee. Day or season passes may be purchased.
