Explore
the Adirondack Mountains:
Wildflower Workshop
Sunday, 17 May 2015
Join naturalist Frank Lescinsky for an afternoon lecture and walk from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM to learn about and see early season flowers growing in the woods and wetlands of the VIC.
- Some of the springtime flowers which bloom in the Adirondacks appear before leaf-out. These spring-blooming wildflowers, including Dwarf Ginseng and Trout Lily, quickly bloom and seed before the canopy trees overhead leaf out.
- Other plants, such as Painted Trillium and Goldthread, bloom around this time, but retain their foliage throughout the summer.
- Also blooming at this time are evergreen shrubs, such as Leatherleaf.
Cost: $20, $15 for Friends of the VIC. Please preregister by 5:00 PM the day before.
For a preview of the plants which bloom at the VIC at this time, check out the Trip Report from the Spring Ephemeral Walk last May.
