Adirondack Birding Center Director Brian McAllister led a bird walk on the Barnum Brook Trail on 18 September 2013. The walk was part of the "TR" Birding Series. The walk began at 9:00 AM, when we met in the VIC building at the Paul Smith's College VIC. We saw or heard a total of 19 different bird species. Highlights of the walk included some excellent views of a group of migrating birds along the south side of the Barnum Brook Trail, including immature Yellow-rumped Warblers, Blackpoll Warblers, and a Hermit Thrush. We also had some good views of Belted Kingfishers on Heron Marsh, as well as distant views of a North American River Otter.

Near the VIC building and parking lot, we saw or heard the following birds:

Blue Jay Red-Breasted Nuthatch
Blue-headed Vireo Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
American Robin Chipping Sparrow
Black-capped Chickadee

On the Barnum Brook Trail, we saw or heard the following birds:

Swamp Sparrow Yellow-rumped Warbler
Hermit Thrush Blackpoll Warbler
Black-capped Chickadee Belted Kingfisher
American Black Duck Northern Flicker
Ruby-crowned Kinglet Mallard
Red-Breasted Nuthatch Golden-crowned Kinglet
Black-throated Green Warbler Wood Duck
