Workshops at the VIC:
Garden Basket Weaving Workshop
Sunday, 19 July 2015
9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Join Clear Creek Weavers Sandy Muller and Bud Ziolkowski for a fun, educational and productive day at the VIC. Sandy and Bud are self-taught splint-style basket weavers. Their beautiful and functional baskets are steeped in the rich tradition of the Adirondack Woodsman. The Garden Basket is a traditional style classic. The garden basket that we will make in class measures approximately 24” x 10” x 8” with an oak handle. You will be given all of the materials and the expert instruction needed to build your own. The cost of the class is $70; $65 for Friends of the VIC. Registration is required by 5:00 PM on 14 July. A minimum of six people is required.
Instructors' Biography: Sandy Muller and Bud Ziolkowski use reeds, barks, ash splints and twigs to weave their beautiful and functional baskets. Their baskets, which include traditional and contemporary designs, have been shown at many regional juried shows and are available for sale locally at numerous shops and directly through their home-based business. Foremost in their repertoire is, of course, the Adirondack pack basket. Sandy and Bud have been teaching basket-weaving classes since 1990. They have taught hundreds of people throughout northern New York the art of basketry. Students have ranged in age from pre-kindergarten through senior citizens.
