Natural History Training Session for VIC Volunteers and Friends of the VIC:
Frozen Heron Marsh
Sunday, 25 January 2015
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Grab your snowshoes and explore the wilds of Heron Marsh. Participants will learn how the VIC's full-time residents survive a harsh Adirondack winter. We'll be looking for animal signs, like river otter slides, recent beaver activity, and snowshoe hare tracks. We'll also be keeping an eye out for White-tailed Deer and the hardy birds that make the Adirondacks their winter home, such as Golden-crowned Kinglets, Downy Woodpeckers, and Blue Jays.
We'll be walking on the ice, weather and ice permitting. Snowshoes will be required and are available to rent at the VIC. The program runs from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Please dress appropriately for outdoor activity. Free to all VIC Volunteers and Friends of the VIC.
