Naturalist-led Interpretive Canoe Trips

Adirondack Wetlands: From the canoe launch on Barnum Brook (26 May 2012)Adirondack Wetlands: From the canoe launch on Barnum Brook (26 May 2012) These two-hour trips provide a chance to explore the varied aquatic habitats at the VIC. Participants view Heron Marsh and Barnum Brook and paddle through a bog to Barnum Pond. Participants will learn about the plants and animals that make these different Adirondack wetland habitats their home.

Canoes, paddles, and personal flotation devices are provided.  Paddles are offered three times per week (every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) at two separate times: 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The paddles start on 25 June and continue through the end of August. During September, the canoe trips are offered every Saturday.. Participants meet at the VIC building. The price is $20 per adult, $50 for immediate family. Friends of the VIC receive a 25% discount. Large groups should make their own arrangements. Preregistration is required. Please preregister by 5:00 PM the previous day by calling the VIC at (518) 327-6241.

Explore the Trails

The VIC trails are free and open to the public, from dawn to dusk, spring through fall. In winter, the trails are open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers for a fee. Day or season passes may be purchased.
