Adirondack Wildflowers: Lily pads on Heron Marsh at the Paul Smiths Visitor Center

Life on the Lakes Juried Art Show
20 July - 16 August 2012

The Paul Smith's College VIC will host a Juried Art Show commencing with an artist reception on 20 July from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Artwork will be on display through 16 August. The theme of the show will be "Life on the Lakes." There will be an entry fee of $25 for 1 or 2 pieces. Art can be dropped off at the VIC from 15 July to 18 July. Selection for the show will take place on 19 July and the show will be hung on 19 and 20 July. Only hand deliveries will be accepted. At the discretion of the artist, art will be on sale during the show. Works in all two-dimensional media are eligible, no wider than 30" including the frame.

The VIC has commissioned Joe Van Putten and Susan Olsen to select the items to be hung for the show. They will award a "Best in Show," "Best Photo," "Best Painting," and "Honorable Mention" prize.

These two very different artistic people have one very important central thread: an abiding love of both the Adirondacks and the Arts. It is this diversity of ideas and experiences that make the Adirondacks such a wonderful place for an artist to live and work.

People's Choice Award

The VIC will also award a "People's Choice" Award at "The Monarchs in the Meadow" musical event on 25 August. People visiting the VIC will purchase ballots and vote on their favorite artwork in the show. Ballots are $2. All proceeds from the show will go toward developing arts programming at the VIC.
