Birding the Adirondacks:
Beginner
Birder Workshop
22 July 2011
Adirondack Birding Center Director Brian McAllister led a Beginner Birder Workshop on 22 July 2011. The walk was part of the Beginner Birder Workshops at the VIC. The walk began at 8:00 AM, when we met at the parking lot at the Paul Smith's College VIC. We started out on the Boreal Life Trail, then followed the Barnum Brook Trail, ending up on the Heron Marsh Trail. It was a sunny, pleasant day. The highlight of the walk was an excellent view of a Boreal Chickadee on the boardwalk over Barnum Bog on the Boreal Life Trail. We identified a Red-Eyed Vireo, some Cedar Waxwings, and a Blue-headed Vireo near the VIC parking lot.
On the Boreal Life Trail, we saw or heard the following birds:
Red-eyed Vireo | Yellow-rumped Warbler |
Black-capped Chickadee | White-throated Sparrow |
Cedar Waxwing | Red-Eyed Vireo |

Palm Warbler |
On the Barnum Brook Trail, we heard or saw the following birds:
