ARTIST
AT WORK STUDIO TOUR
27 - 29 September 2013
The Artist at Work Studio Tour, hosted by Saranac Lake Art Works, occurs the last weekend of September - at the peak of the fall colors. The purpose of the tour is to highlight the amazing talent of the artists and craftspeople who live and work in the northern Adirondacks.
Area galleries participate, with special exhibits and artists on hand to demonstrate and talk about their work. This event provides an opportunity to visit the area's talented artists in their own private studios - to watch them weave, or paint, or carve, or hammer red hot iron, or shape clay on a potter's wheel, and more; to hear the stories behind their work; and to learn about what motivates them.
The participating
artists show a multitude of talents - some are beginning,
but most are well into successful careers as artists. Visitors can see and learn how
an artist works - how they develop their ideas, the various
steps their work goes through, and how they work. Bring your
children! This is a family-friendly event.
The Paul Smiths VIC has been designated as an Artists Rendezvous Site for the tour. The VIC will serve as a gathering space for artists to exhibit their work for the studio tour. Free.
