New Moon Art Show
Pastels, Photographs, and Wood Art by Joyce Hanson and Ron Pederson
25 August - 22 September 2014
This show features a variety of intimate images, photographs, and pieces done in wood of local trees, fungi and scenes from local waterways and forests. All are available for viewing and purchase during the VIC hours.
- Joyce Hanson, a Duane resident, has B.A. and M.F.A. degrees and was an art instructor for nearly three decades at various educational levels, in both California and New York. Hanson initially worked exclusively in black, white and gray, mostly pastels, and alternated between abstraction and realism. Her drawings and fabric sculptures have been exhibited in juried national competitions, and she has won awards for her pastels, pencil drawings and her large lithographically printed fabric sculptures. Her recent work focuses on "plein air" pastel landscapes of nearby sites in the Adirondack Mountains.
- Ron Pederson is an artist and woodworker, who has been an avid digital photographer for about 2-years. He holds BA and MFA degrees in fine art, worked as a college art instructor, an illustrator, an architectural draftsman and engineering draftsman before working in the aerospace industry for 25 years. The majority of his photographic images are taken on his own property, or within 15 miles of his home in the forest. In the last 2 years his work has been juried into regional, national and international photography and art exhibitions/competitions.
