New Moon Art Show:
15 February - 25 March 2013
Artist Ginger Dora and photographer John DiGiacomo are exhibiting their work at the Paul Smith's College VIC from 15 February through 25 March.
- Ginger Dora is an Adirondack native and an avid outdoors woman. Her work is inspired by the natural beauty of nature viewed while hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing, and skiing. She works mainly in acrylics but has also created with oils and watercolors. She holds a Masters degree in Art Education and was an art teacher for many years for the Saranac Lake School District. Her work has been in many juried and non-juried shows in New York State. Three of the paintings in this show were inspired by the quilt trail in West Virginia. Throughout the state, quilt patterns with painting in the center can be seen on the barns. She used this idea with Adirondack landscapes and traditional quilt patterns. The rest of the paintings in this show are of the Adirondacks.
- Through a series of life altering events, John DiGiacomo made a decision in 2009 to leave his position as a corporate executive and pursue a career as a professional free-lance photographer, specializing in nature and landscapes, sports, and architectural photography. He is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Sports Shooter, the International Association of Architectural Photographers, the Real Estate Photographers of America, and Nikon Professional Services.
John’s sports client list has included the Associated Press, Toronto Star, The Sunbelt Senior Golf Tour, Adirondack Life and The Smithtown News. His nature and landscape images have appeared in several publications including Adirondack Life, Adirondack Explorer, Cape Air, Northern Homes Garden & Leisure, and Northern Exploring. Additionally, his work has been featured in local galleries and has earned several awards in juried shows including the Photo Federation of Long Island’s prestigious Leonard Victor Award. He co-published an Arcadia Press, “Then and Now” book with the Historical Society in his home town of Smithtown, New York and produced a documentary of the 2011 Adirondack Canoe Classic which was presented at the 2012 Reel Paddling Film Festival. A large component of John’s commercial work includes architectural photography for Realtors, hotels and Builders.
