Life on the Lakes Juried Art Show
9 July - 5 August 2013

The Paul Smith’s College VIC will host a Juried Art Show from 9 July through 5 August 2013. An artist reception will be held on 12 July from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  The theme of the show will be “Life on the Lakes.” There will be an artist application and an entry fee of $25 for one or two pieces. Art can be dropped off at the VIC from 6 July to 8 July. Selection for the show will take place after noon on Monday, 8 July, while the show is being installed.   Only hand deliveries will be accepted.  At the discretion of the artist, art will be on sale during the show. Works in all two- dimensional media are eligible, no wider than 30" including the frame.

Judge – Matt Burnett

The VIC has commissioned Matt Burnett to select the items to be hung for the show. He will award a “Best in Show,” “Best Photo,” “Best Painting,” and “Honorable Mention” prize. We will also award a “People’s Choice” Award from the “Life on the Lakes “show at the Plein Air Artist’s reception on August 16th . People visiting the VIC will purchase ballots and vote on their favorite artwork in the show. All proceeds from the show will go toward developing arts programming at the VIC.

Matt Burnett is an artist and licensed guide living in Saranac Lake, NY.   A native of the region, his paintings and outdoor installations have been featured locally and internationally.  His multi-faceted work focuses on giving voice to natural forces and living history.   For information about paintings or guided trips contact Matt Burnett at www.mattburnettpaintings.com.

Explore the Trails

The VIC trails are free and open to the public, from dawn to dusk, spring through fall. In winter, the trails are open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers for a fee. Day or season passes may be purchased.
