Birding in the Everglades

Steve and Laura HuberThe VIC's Armchair Science Lecture series continues with a presentation by Steve Huber on his experience birding in the Florida Everglades. The program will include sightings from several accessible areas throughout the Everglades, various Wildlife Management Areas, the Audubon Society Corkscrew Sanctuary, Lake Trafford, and the Ding Darling Wildlife preserve.

A retired professor of physics and engineering and retired pianist, Stephen Huber founded Photowild 4 years ago and has been concentrating efforts on photographing birds and other wildlife. Now located in the Adirondack Mountains, Steve has been an avid birder since 2008, specializing in national parks, NWR’s, WMA’s, and remote areas.

The lecture begins at 7:00 PM in the VIC auditorium. $5 per person. Free to season pass holders, Friends of the VIC, and Paul Smith's College students, faculty and staff. Underwritten by Friends of the VIC.

The VIC trails are free and open to the public, from dawn to dusk, spring through fall. In winter, the trails are open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers for a fee. Day or season passes may be purchased.
