Mammals of the Adirondack Park: White-tailed Deer
Come to the VIC to learn about the natural wonders of winter in the Adirondack Park with VIC Naturalist Brian McAllister. Walk topics include animal tracking, winter survival, and winter birding.
- Tracks commonly found in this wetland and mixed forest ecosystem include: mole, vole, hare, grouse, deer, bobcat, and American martin.
- Bird species which normally make the VIC their home in the winter include: Golden-crowned Kinglet, Brown Creeper, White-winged Crossbill, Evening Grosbeak, Black-capped Chickadee, Blue Jay, American Goldfinch, Red-breasted Nuthatch, and Pine Siskin.
The walk starts at 10:00 AM and ends around noon. Participants meet in the VIC building. $20 per person; the cost includes your day pass. $10 for VIC season pass holders and Friends of the VIC. Snowshoes are required. Snowshoe rentals are available. Preregistration is required by 5:00 PM the day prior.
