Sunday Afternoon Ski and Music Series:
Sunday's Kitchen
22 March 2015
Weekends are for music at the VIC!
The Sunday Afternoon Ski and Music Series continues Sunday, 22 March, in the Great Room at the VIC from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with Sunday’s Kitchen. Sunday's Kitchen proudly continues the Irish and Scottish tradition of dedicating Sundays to playing music with friends and neighbors. Combining the warmth of company, food, and drink, kitchens in past times were the typical setting for sessions. Pete Benson (guitar), David Filsinger (Cello), Emily Martz (fiddle), and Tony Munn (banjo & mandolin) look forward to sharing their day of rest with visitors of the VIC by playing a variety of traditional Celtic and old-timey tunes.
The jigs and reels come from Ireland, Scotland and the Shetland Islands, and the old-timey ones are from around the United States. Although all tunes are traditional in origin, don't be surprised if you hear an “Adirondack twist” once in a while, just to change things up a little. Wax up those skis and come out to the VIC this Sunday for an enjoyable afternoon of fun tunes and great skiing on beautiful, groomed trails. Entry is free with your ski pass.
