Fifteen birders participated in the Heaven Hill Farm Field Trip on 7 June 2015. It was a beautiful sunny day, with a light breeze. We began our bird walk at Heaven Hill Farm – a 600-acre farm, formerly owned by Henry Uihlein and now administered by the Uihlein Foundation. The acreage includes meadowland, successional meadows, and woodland. We focused on the meadow in front of the farm buildings, since we were interested in the Bobolinks. The Bobolinks accommodated us by emerging from the grass and starting their bubbly, metallic songs just as we arrived at the meadow. We then went up to the corner of Bear Cub Road, where the road makes a sharp right, hoping to see some Eastern Bluebirds. The bluebirds were not in evidence, so we continued to the Henry's Woods parking area, where we had some great views of a Nashville Warbler.

The final part of the field trip was a walk through the meadow and woodland edges at John Brown Farm – a historic site located just a few miles from Henry's Woods. We heard and saw a variety of warblers, including some nice views of a Nashville Warbler and fleeting views of a Magnolia Warbler and Chestnut-sided Warbler.
