Larry Master led a bird walk on 2 June 2013 at Intervale Lowlands. Intervale Lowlands is a 135-acre nature preserve which includes 7,500’ of frontage on the West Branch of the Ausable River in Lake Placid, New York. With a mixture of young boreal forest, riverside shrublands, and open fields, the “preserve” is home to 15+ species of breeding warblers.  The walk was part of the 2013 Great Adirondack Birding Celebration, the longest-running boreal birding festival in the Northeast. The walk began at 7:00 AM, when we met at the Iron Bridge parking area on River Road in Lake Placid.

Explore the Trails

The VIC trails are free and open to the public, from dawn to dusk, spring through fall. In winter, the trails are open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers for a fee. Day or season passes may be purchased.
