Adirondack Visitor Interpretive Center
At Paul Smiths

The
Adirondack Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) in Paul Smiths,
New York, offers scenic walking trails that showcase the natural
beauty of the Adirondacks. The trails weave through woodland
and marshland, by ponds, brooks, and bogs. Many of the trails
are surfaced for easy walking. Many have trail-side signs explaining
natural and manmade features of the landscape. There are also
several backcounty hiking trails. This unofficial site was created
to celebrate the natural beauty of the Adiondack Mountains.
The
Adirondack Visitor Center is operated by New York State Adirondack
Park Agency. The Visitor Center at Paul Smiths, along with
another VIC at Newcomb, serves the 6 million-acre Adirondack
Park as an environmental education and traveler orientation
center. The Adirondack Park was created in 1892 by the State
of New York. It is the largest publicly protected area in the
contiguous United States. For more information, visit the official
Visitor Interpretive Center web site at: www.northnet.org/adirondackvic/.
